One of my co-workers brought a copy of this to work for the community book drawer. About 100 pages in, I was hooked. I had been meaning to read it for quite some time. However, someone borrowed it, and kept it…. Ugh!

I picked up my own copy in November 2009, along with the follow-up book, Speaker For The Dead.

I read it during every moment of time I had between calls at work today, and I managed to clear 120 pages within 8 hours. (Yes, I am a fast reader when it’s a very good and interesting story.)

This book has me, somewhat in the way of Robert Heinlein’s "Starship Troopers", and I can’t help thinking of thinking if Hideaki Anno and other GAINAX staff were somewhat influenced by this for the character of Shinji Ikari in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I’ve stopped for the day around page 224, where Ender is graduating from Battle School.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story turns out.
